Iago is an unhonest man whom everyone trusts and likes. Everyone trusts him because his lies have great amounts of evidence behind them. He is cruel and evil and will do anything he wants to anyone. He has hurt many others including his wife and his friends. Iago affected Desdemona, Othello, Emilia, and Cassio in many bad ways. Iago hurt Desdemona’s relationship with Othello. He spread rumors about her and caused her a great deal of pain. Iago had said that she slept with Cassio. Int truth Cassio was one of her best friends and they would never hurt Othello. She had fallen into a trap when Cassio greeted her by kissing her hand. Iago had seen this and decided he knew how to hurt Othello. Iago had hurt her image and her relationships. Othello is a respected war hero. He is a moor and in love with Desdemona. Iago had heard someone say that Othello slept with Emilia, who is Iago’s wife, and Iago had believed that they had slept together. Iago had been the one to start the rumor of Desdemona and Cassio, but Othello was too blind to see it. Iago and Othello were friends and he even called Iago, Honest Iago. Iago had earned Othello’s trust by planting evidence on Cassio and that led Othello to believe Desdemona had cheated on him with Cassio. Othello had then decided to kill Desdemona and Cassio. Othello suggested to hang Desdemona, but Iago said to strangle her. Othello then went and strangled her to death. Meaning Iago had set up Desdemona’s death and had another plan gone right. Othello then realized he was fooled and killed himself.
