Feng shui, or “wind-water”, is a Chinese philosophy that lasted for thousands of years. Wind represents the vitality and power, while water is change and flow. The feng shui practice discusses architecture in metaphoric terms of "invisible forces" that bind the universe, earth, and humanity together, known as qi: since people are part of nature, nature is also part of the people. A more systematic “feng shui” principles originated from the warring states period, roughly around 403BC.
