How Do You Summarize Strong's Essay

The first main point that Strong makes in her essay is her definition of writing. In the first sentence of her essay, Strong states, “writing is thinking.” This definition of writing has affected my thinking of what writing is. After reading her essay, I am now convinced that, as she states in her essay, writing is an opportunity, exploration, and discovery. I also like her definition of writing because it encompasses the process of writing.
Along with her definition of writing, Strong made a point of how writing is also a process of thinking and leads to thought. In particular, I liked Strong’s idea about writing even when you do not know what to write about. Strong wrote in her essay that the process of writing can lead to thought and, therefore, lead you to a topic to write about.
Well writing my response to “Writing is…?”, a main point that I wanted to convey in my writing was my definition of writing. I believe that writing is communication. We use writing as a form of communication to get our point across to the reader. Whether the author is writing fiction novel or a news story, they are using writing to share information with their readers. Specifically, in Strong’s essay, she used the word regurgitation. The main reason for writing an essay in high school is to show the teacher what you have learned from their class. Strong also made the point that many high school students think of writing as a duty or obligation. I completely agree with that assessment.
