The only influence wielded upon Delilah are the Philistine’s promise of money if she hands Samson over to them. “Seduce him, and see where his great strength lies, and by what means we may overpower him, that we may bind him to humble him. And we will each give you 1,100 pieces of silver” (Judges 16:5, English Standard Version). In a way, Samson might have wielded influence over her as well. Every time that he lied to her, she was at the mercy of him. “Then Delilah said to Samson, “Until now you have mocked me and told me lies. Tell me how you might be bound” (Judges 16:13, English Standard Version). Not until which Samson finally tells the truth and the Philistines capture and kill Samson. She is no longer under any influence from Samson or from the Philistines, because she would have received payment. “When Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called the lords of the Philistines, saying, “Come up again, for he has told me all his heart.” Then the lords of the Philistines came up to her and brought the money in …show more content…

Delilah wielded more influence over Samson. She knows that he is in love with and uses that to her advantage. “And she said to him, ‘How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when your heart is not with me? You have mocked me these three times, and you have not told me where your great strength lies” (Judges 16:15, English Standard Version). Soon after this tactic, he is honest with her, which leads to his demise. Delilah’s only motive was to receive her money. Although the Philistine’s wielded influence over Delilah’s payment, she also had influence over the Philistines.
