A revolution is a fundamental change in power or organizational structures that takes place in a relatively short period of time. Nearly every civilization has experienced some bold reform in their history. Europe and Africa have experienced revolutions, both places have changed drastically since before the revolution to after. Before the revolution, European men and women demanded more power to the middle class as well as, new political ideologies such as the dismissal of a monarchy and more of a democracy. In addition, Europeans saw that with the unification of several countries, Europe would be a much larger and stronger country than it had been previously. Africa relied solely on the strength of its internal trade. Africans kept close knit families and traded within their respective villages. Africa was not governed as a huge country like Europe; instead, local clans, families, and ethnicities controlled the power of the government. Europe established trade posts on the shores of Africa and relied on the Africans to bring slaves, gold, and ivory to the coast to trade. …show more content…

Labor unions strengthened and the men at the head of politics granted the working class far more power than they were given previously. Africa had seen new advancements in leadership. New African leaders began to emerge where there had previously not been any. These newly appointed leaders called for Africans to reexamine their heritage and learn from and take pride in their past. In addition, there was a call for Nationalism. Africans wanted to end all forms of foreign control and influence to be able to take charge of their political, social and economic affairs. Africans above all wished to rid themselves of any form of influence from Europe and stand alone as their own country. Moreover, Nationalism laid the basis for African independence
