How Did Matthew Shepard Changed My Life

Everyone has different events that change their lives forever. For some people it is a positive change like winning the lottery or get married. For other people, they have negative changes like filing for divorce or becoming paralyzed for the rest of their lives. Matthew Shepard and I are a great example of having a negative and positive event change our lives. Matthew Shepard’s event that changed his life was unfortunately negative and something he can never recover from. The event that changed my life forever was positive and will help me through life. The events that everyone faces are never planned. People can only accept what happens to them in the most positive way possible even if it is negative. The world is filled with unknowns. No one knows exactly what will happen to him or her the next day. You could have every day planned out for the next year and still have no idea what I going to happen.

Matthew Shepard was at a bar that night with his friends in Laramie, Wyoming. He was having a fun time and enjoying himself. He met two kids at the bar and decided to leave with them to go outside. He did not realize that he was about to be attacked and have his whole life changed forever. The two kids brutally attacked Matthew Shepard and left him to die against a fence. Six days later Matthew died in the hospital. The main reason Matthew was targeted was because of his sexual orientation. Matthew was gay and the two kids that beat him up did not like that. This is a great example how a wonderful night can turn into a life-changing event that left Matthew only alive for only six more
