Firstly, Martin Luther King’s non-violent protests inspired African-Americans all over America. For example, Biography.com, an online source, shares that in February 1960, in North Carolina, a group of African-American students started what is known as the “sit-in” movement inspired by Martin Luther King. The group of students would go to racially segregated lunch counters throughout stores in the city. Therefore, King was a big influence to African-Americans in America. To continue, Martin Luther King used leadership during protests. To elaborate, Biography.com, shares that during a march the marchers encountered a road block of armed state troopers on the Pettus bridge, and instead of promoting violence against the troopers, King instead led the marchers to kneel and pray. This action influenced the support of African-American voting rights in America. Thus, Martin Luther King’s leadership led to African American voting rights in America. Thirdly, Martin Luther King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech opened the eyes of Americans in America. To illustrate, Biography.com, says “on August 28, 1963, the historic march on Washington drew more than 200,000 people in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial. Integrity has a large effect on what we think, say and do, it is through King’s thoughts and actions that enabled so many people to have trust and faith in him. Through King’s integrity he believed that America, the most powerful and richest nation in the world will lead the way to a revolution of values. This revolution will change the way society views itself, shifting from a "thing-orientated" society to a "person-orientated" society. When this occurs, King believed that racism will be capable of being conquered and this nation will be "Free at last." King’s unconditional love for all humans was another value that strongly influenced his character and allowed him to have such excellent leadership ability.
