The Catcher in The Rye, an amazing book written in 1951 by J.D. Salinger, got much attention when it became published. J.D. Salinger’s talent of writing became famous caused him to get much attention. Although all the fame and fortune, J.D. Salinger didn’t seem to deal with the attention very well and shut himself out, away from the world. Today, no one really knows why he lived a recluse and what lead to him being that way. Even though we don’t really know why, people have many theories of why he lived his last moments of his life lonely.

J.D. Salinger was a very talented man, with many features in his books to show it. I think he became a recluse mainly because he just felt tired of this world. He seemed to really like old time, as in his book, The Catcher in The Rye, takes place back in 1950s. In the book, the main character, Holden, also loved to live in the past and liked it because he could have spent more time with his deceased brother, Allie. J.D. Salinger probably got tired off all the nonsense going on in the world. Some examples would be: Trump becoming president, new stupid dance moves (the Dab), or just the stupidity the world shows today. Salinger decided to live alone is because of a huge depression. I think he wrote The Catcher in The Rye with Holden representing his life with a little more story behind it, for the book to become interesting. Holden would be a figure that kind of mirrors J.D. Salinger himself. The attributes of being lonely, depressed, and not being able to have normal human relationship with people in his life could all be reflecting Salinger’s life. This would be why the book got so much attention; because the book seemed so realistic and dramatic, and in the end, it was basically summarizing J.D. Salinger’s sad
