Teachers and writers have a connection. They act the same way and do some of the same things in just slightly different ways. In this essay, I will show you these comparisons. I believe that writers and teachers are alike because they both teach lessons, they tell the facts, and they change their plans offen. Firstly, Teachers and writers have many comparisons because writers teach their characters lessons, just like the teachers teaching their students the lesson of the day. They begin class hoping to get a certain task accomplished but as the class goes on, the plan might be altered. Writers also do this. They think they have a story when they start writing, but then they come up with a better idea. Ideas may come to them while they are writing. Also, teachers always have to adapt to changes. Schedule changes, sicknesses, and assemblies never fail in messing up a day's work. A teacher may also realize that they need to hit on another subject if the class shows need. Writers are just the same. Writers adapt to what their story is trying to display. Maybe the direction they were trying to go with their story was not what they wanted, so they have to adapt to a new idea. It could be possible also that as the story a writer is writing goes on, the beginning does not work with the ending how they wanted. They can just give the beginning a quick fix and it is now taken care of. Teachers always have tomorrow to get things done so it would be a quick fix to move

Ralph Fletcher’s story in the beginning of the introduction quickly grabbed my attention. Although the story was humorous, I found there to be a lot of truth in it. In the story, the young students realize that their teacher will take anything and make them write about it. It seems to be that the teacher does this so often, that the students are afraid to take joy in the simple things. The students don’t want to assigned another writing prompt. Fletcher then says that teacher need to be sure “not to get too evangelical about teaching writing.” I agree with this statement. Research the relationship between authors’ lives and what they write about. This will be done through reading biographies, autobiographies, etc all findings will be presented to the class.
In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting three inspirational people and their experiences on reading and writing. Frederick Douglass, Malcolm X, and Sandra Cisneros all had different opinions about it. All of them overcame struggles that were different but similar in some way. What really intrigued me was that they followed their hearts in what they wanted to do even though people told them they couldn't.
Melissa Duffy’s essay titled, “Inspiration” is an excellent example of how a someone’s attitude toward a certain subject influences their performance. As I read, it dawned on me that the approach our teachers take in teaching us have an immense influence on our attitude towards it. If a teacher does not give their students guidance and support, their chances of success become limited. Teachers have to implement guidance into their students in order for them to truly learn and become motivated. In my belief, Duffy tells her story of “Inspiration” in a periodical format to lie out the moments in time that shaped her as a writer. Melissa Duffy’s positive attitude towards writing stemmed from feelings of support and guidance that she had initially received from two of her high school teachers and a friend who inspired her as a writer.
A successful writer is he who is able to transmit ideas, emotions, and wisdom on to his readers. He is cable of stirring emotions and capturing the reader's attention with vivid descriptions and clever dialogues. The writer can even play with the meanings of words and fuse reality with fiction to achieve his goal of taking the reader on a wonderful journey. His tools are but words, yet the art of writing is found in the use of the language to create though-provoking pieces that defy the changing times. Between the lines, voices and images emerge. Not everyone can write effectively and invoke these voices. It is those few who can create certain psychological effects on the reader who can seize him (or her) with inspiring teachings, frightening thoughts, and playful games with the language. When reading "Teaching Thinking by Teaching Writing" by Peter Elbow, I discovered many of the ideas he favors is how I start off my writing for most writing assignments. I tend to free-write when getting out of my thoughts without being interrupted by any outsider looking in or sources to result to. Then once I 'm done, if the assignment requires sources or I just feel I need another opinion and feel I 've been looking for extra help such as needing sources to include within my writing. I feel my best writing comes from me when I free writing first. For generations teachers have been developing our future through harmony, wisdom, and intellectual adventure. A teachers' role in society is to help our youth grow and further their understandings in the principles of life. The expository essay The Role of the Teacher by Irving Layton provides a different perspective on education in the 21st century. Similar to Layton, I firmly believe that education is for the expansion of the young mind and nothing should restrict a student's ability to do so. Layton touches on a view where teachers need to be passionate about their jobs, however, teachers are not always responsible for every action the school makes, but the responsibility may lie in the hands of the school board. Layton also displays his concern for the decreasing rate of young readers and the use of humanities and how that will affect society. Personally I have been influenced by teachers in my own family. There have also been other teachers who have influenced me like I have also had other educators such as in my math course where the diversity in the techniques and skills used affected my overall experience.
I have always known that writing was not my strong point. Entering writing 101 in September I was very much afraid. I knew that the expectations would be very high for this course; thus it would be more difficult than any other writing class I had previously taken. At first writing was a nightmare for me, but thanks to the assistance from professor Smart and my tutors, I have improved drastically in my writing skills and, as a result I am now a better writer. During the course of four months, I have learned so much. There were a few bumps in the way throughout the semester, but I managed to overcome them. It is hard to believe that my journey in writing 101 is coming to an end. Through my hard work and dedication, this class has helped me to build confidence in my writing that will help me throughout my college life.
