A quote by Adolf Hitler; arguably the evilest man to have ever walked the earth. However, Hitler was also earned another top accolade; that of being one of the greatest leadership stories and successes in known time**. The reader might have a hard time comprehending this statement** and may even feel angry at the writer for daring to suggest it. Unfortunately, leadership is not a characteristic, but instead a collection of characteristics and traits that are not necessarily reserved for the well intentioned; characteristics that can be used to bring the world to its knees. This paper will discuss these characteristics and correlate how they were used by Hitler to bring together a group of people in order to accomplish a common goal, the writer’s definition of leadership, and how these traits are used in other leadership goals.

Ambition is what drives a leader to a particular cause. Without it, there will be no motivation for one’s self to achieve a goal, yet alone inspire others to do so. Hitler’s unabated patriotism for Germany led to the vision of becoming a dominate world power. It was with this ambition that began the incredible crusade to take the Nazi party to its WWII peak. Ambition is exemplified today in the beginnings of many great leaders. Ambition leads to a vision, and vice versa, which is what separates leaders from others.
