Japan: The Only Victim of The Atomic Bomb Japan will never forgotten the day of August 6 and 9 in 1945; we became the only victim by the atomic bombs in the world. When the atomic was dropped at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, there was World War II. The decision of dropping the atomic bombs was affected by different backgrounds such as the Manhattan Project, and the Pacific War. At Hiroshima City, the population of Hiroshima was 350,000 when the atomic bomb dropped. Also, the population of Nagasaki was around 250,000 ("Overview."). However, there was no accurate number of death because all of documents were burned by the atomic bombs. On the other hand, the atomic bombs had extremely strong power and huge numbers of Japanese who lived in Hiroshima At that time, the schedule was delayed for fifteen minutes. Bockscar carried the atomic bomb which was Fat Man. The top target was Kokura and Nagasaki was the second target for dropping the atomic bomb. The captain who operated Bockscar had orbited for forty-five minutes around Yakushima. Then he decided to go to Kokura. At 10:20 a.m., Bockscar was flying over Kokura; however, Kokura was covered by heavy clouds and smoke because on August 8 at night, B-29s had dropped the bombs at Yawata. The captain of Bockscar thought that dropping the atomic bomb was extremely difficult and it had a chance to fail. Also, Bockscar did not have enough fuel to keep flying. Then, Bockscar changed the target from Kokura to Nagasaki. At 11:02 a.m., the second atomic bomb was dropped at Nagasaki (Harder). From a height of 9600 meter, the atomic bomb was dropped and exploded at a height of 503 meter. The power of the atomic bomb was more than the first atomic bomb. However, the damage was less than Hiroshima because of the geographical features of Nagasaki. Nagasaki was surrounded by mountains, so the mountains blocked the heat rays, radiation, and blast ("Overview.") In short, the damage in Nagasaki was less than Hiroshima even Nagasaki was exploded by the atomic In February, 1945, the United Sates, Britain, France, and Soviet concluded agreement: Yalta Agreement. In January 1945, the Soviet Union invaded Poland and the Soviet Union almost reached to the border of Germany. Thus, the main three countries of Allies: the United States, France, and Britain had a conference. As a result, they decided to concluded with the Soviet Union that dividing Germany, setting the border of Poland, processing of East Countries after the war. The purpose of the Yalta Agreement was for adjusting of interests after the World War II (Morton). Thus, the United States had expected that some political problems would be appeared before the World War II ended. Therefore, the United States used the atomic bombs to restrain the Soviet Union after the World War
