Hiram Hiram is a calm and moral character which could mean his zodiac sign is probably Pisces (Born February 19 through March 20). Pisces “are honest, unselfish, and trustworthy and often have quiet dispositions” (Astrology). In the book “Mississippi Trial, 1955” author Chris Crowe has Hiram say “Quiet, R.C.! Dang it, if they hear us, I’m going to be in big trouble with Gramma. You know she thinks we ought not bother Ralph and Ronnie” (16). This shows he is Pisces because he’s being honest and trustworthy. Hiram is also gullible, this is shown when in the book R.C. says “Naw, but the boy don’t know his place. Folks are sayin’ he talked ugly and whistled at her. A married woman, even. The lady’s husband was pretty upset when he heard ‘bout …show more content…

“Gemini are sometimes hard to predict how they will react, can turn from hot cold, and may be prone to noticeable mood swings” (Astrology). Earl is all of these things, we know this because in the book Earl gets from cool to hot when his son was taking Hiram to Arizona and said “Arizona! Why in the hell would you want to live in that desert? That’s my only grandchild you got there, Harlan. How can you take him away from his home, from his grandpa? They argued for a while, Grandpa swearing and shouting” (39). Earl shows noticeable mood swings after his wife died and he stayed in bed when he used to take Hiram out to the courthouse. “Grandpa didn’t get up for breakfast. Your granddaddy doesn’t sleep well these days, some nights he’s up late at those Council meetings, Ruthanne explained” (55). Earl shows he’s hard to predict when at the end we figure out he actually helped kill the kid that whistled at that lady. “You where there. That night, you were there. My grandfather’s smile faded. He looked away from my and whispered, “The boy was alive when I left; they promised they were don’t when him when they brought me home.”” …show more content…

“Leos are all about expanse, power, and exuberance. Leo’s are natural born leaders, and they will let you know as they have the tendency to be high-minded and vocal about their opinions” (Astrology). R.C. shows power when in the book he says “Hey, watch what you’re doin! R.C. stepped through the bushes and into our yard. He had on the same torn and oversized black high-top Keds he always wore. His shirt and jeans were rumpled and dirty, his red hair a tangled mess. He scowled at me like the cat had. “You ‘bout put my eye out, Hiram.”” (13). He shows he’s a leader when he said, “Tell you what, Hiram, we ain’t got no barges comin’ down for another couple days, so why don’t we go fishing tomorrow? I can see if you learned anythin’ since you been in Arizona. It’ll be like old times” (78). R.C is very vocal about his opinions, this is obvious when he says “Ruthanne that nigger girl your granddaddy got workin’ for him?
