Have you ever imagined that you will be taken to your marriage without your concern to merge your life with someone you do not know? Alarmingly, this happens a lot around countries like India, which has the highest rate of female child forced marriage in the world.

Hinduism is a culture with a lot of different rules and traditions. When it comes to marriage arrangements are extremely common, but in some cases some families recur to forced marriages. This approach has released a lot of different chaos and assumptions all around the world, and even though people make a buzz about it, different societies don't focus on the different consequences it could have. Hindu culture follows a patriarchal society, which is defined as something “relating to or denoting a system of society or government controlled by men,” by The Oxford English Dictionary, for this reason the ladies are expected to stay at home just take care of it. It is important to recognize that in recent years there are families that have evolved from this lifestyle by letting the ladies pursue different careers and different paths, but that is the exception to the rule, because there are still cases of families where the woman are forced to stay in the house to assume the role of mother while the man assumes the role of …show more content…

Arranged marriage is a standard in many parts of Asia, Africa and Center East. This kind of marriage approach is mostly taken by people that want to please their parents or to follow a tradition.

B. Forced Marriage

In the other hand, there are forced marriages. This method implies that is a marriage into which possibly one or the two life partners have been constrained without their assent. “Coercion can include physical, psychological, financial, sexual and emotional pressure from relatives who regard a refusal to marry the person of their choice as a stain on the family’s honour” (Meetoo and Mirza, 2007).

C. Importance of the difference between arranged and forced marriage

The two modalities mentioned before are often confused, but is really important to explain the difference between arranged marriage and forced marriage.
