Throughout my highschool career, I had always intended to go into the medical field. I had this intention not because this was the career I wanted to go into, but because I felt that it was expected of me. However, during my junior year I had an English teacher who helped me fall in love with writing. I grew up loving literature but just never thought about going into that career field. After realizing that literature made me truly happy I decided that was the career I needed to go into. Truck driving is a much needed career to help transport goods across the United States and other local areas. Commercial Truck Driving is the career I choose to uphold. Trucking is a way of transportation needed to keep business going. Trucking has been a part of my family for years so I fell in love with trucks now I won’t to drive my own. Growing up I struggled with the constant question, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” With so many different career paths to choose from, it’s hard to become overwhelmed. As college gradually tiptoed in on me, I began to feel like I would never find the profession right for me. The few things that I did know I wanted in my future career were very simple to me. They were a job in the healthcare world where I could go home each night knowing I made a difference in someone’s life. A job that wasn’t just following a routine everyday but required creativity and brought new challenges while working with a diverse population.
If I could go back in time to my last year of senior year in high school, I would tell my undecided, scared of moving on, and unsure self to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy. It was definitely one of those "if only" moments in my life I wish I could re-due again. In High School there was not much information given to me about Occupational Therapy and it seemed it was not as popular as all the other career choices I was being informed or pressured to pursue. As I completed an online career assessment test provided by my High School to determine the best career/s based on your skills and interests, I got a list of potential careers that ranged from primary careers to the least careers I should pursue. As I excitedly looked over the results and thought to myself, finally this might give me an answer to what I am meant to do.
Every time I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always had different answers. An author, a photographer, even a video game tester. I've juggled lots of different careers, and yet I still don't seem to know which one I really want to do. When I was younger I always loved to write. Fiction was my favorite genre, especially when it comes to dystopian worlds. I always joked with my friends and family that after I become an author and "make millions off my first book", I'd be able to buy them whatever they desired. After I got a bit older though, writing just wasn't my top priority anymore, I lost interest in it sadly. Don't get me wrong I still like it, I'm just never in the mood to write anymore. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always dreamed of having a job where I can help people. After doing research throughout my twelve years of school I stubbled across the occupation of a registered nurse and I realized that is the ideal career for me. While researching registered nurses, I determined that anyone can try and become a registered nurse, but it requires a tremendous amount of hard work. This future job will require me to have a great education, extraordinary communication, listening, and personal management skills. As a registered nurse the pay is more than ideal, and it would provide me with the lifestyle I would want to live. This occupation would also give me the chance to work anywhere I want, such as close to home or somewhere in a different state.
Students all around the world have dreams of what they would like to be when they grow up. Some meet these goals faster than others, but most of them take time trying to figure out where they fit in at in the world. Both high school and college is ultimately the best places to get a great education and furthering students’ career. College is the best opportunity to expand students’ career choices. College provides the degree in higher career fields, learn interpersonal skills, becoming more productive a member of society, a low risk of not being unemployed than just graduating from high school.
Five jobs that I've found that might be a choice of a future career I want. Each of these college I listed are some of the highest ranked in the world. You would have to work hard to get into the colleges and work even harder when you get accepted into the college.
One of the most important decisions that any high school student or young adult has to make is deciding what they want to spend the rest of their life doing. Coming into this year I didn't have a clue what I wanted to have as my career. Obviously everybody has their dream job, mine being a pro basketball player overseas, but everybody needs a backup plan if their dreams do not pan out. Recently, I started researching certain careers and taking tests ,such as the WISCareers interest inventory, to decide what career would fit my interests the best. After all the tests and research, I came to the conclusion that becoming a loan officer was what suited me and my interests the best("WISCareers")."Loan officers evaluate, authorize, or recommend approval of loan applications for people and businesses"("Bureau of Labor Statistics"). Being a loan officer is the perfect job for me because they have flexible hours, an above average salary, and a limited amount of schooling.
Despite the jobs that students may have outside of school, their main job is to go above and beyond academically. From visiting their teachers at lunch to spending countless hours studying to pass their next test, being a student is a full time job. Students are expected to not just pass, but to excel. After a long rehearsal or practice one’s first instinct is to relax, however, being exceptional students the grind never ends. High School is the time when students discover the classes they find more interesting and begin finding which careers pique their interest the most. Teacher’s inspire students daily to find a topic they are passionate about and allow them the space to discuss current events. To give them the forum to think critically
I envision life after high school to be a lot less stressful then life now. I don't intend on going to college. Well, I may go to a technical college. I don't want to go to an academic college because that would be too much money. I intend on graduating high school. After high school I plan on opening my own auto shop, and working for myself. I will be my own own boss. I will eventually get my own car lot. But to start out I will put cars on the side of the road with a for sale sign on it. I will do this because its free and I won't have to pay for a car lot.
All college students should partake in career exploration project because it gives structure and direction. The result from an assessment identifies and prioritizes which careers will best suit an individual person or student. It does not necessarily mean they have to pick that particular job or career; it gives them more chooses to choose from. Career exploration is a life long journey that is emotionally, physically and mentally stress full. I say lifelong because as time goes on so does an individual’s views, abilities and skills. Career exploration is very helpful to a career, because it improves a person's ability to become informed of their interests, skills, values, abilities, aptitudes, weaknesses and strengths It helps in the guidance of career matters across the nation, job influence, growth, work hours opportunities to name a few. An individual needs to remember that when doing this career exploration project to keep in mind that money is only a temporary fix.
