High School Football Scholarship Essay

I have been a part of Huntington North High School Football program all 4 years of my high school career. I am not claiming that I am better then any of my teammates or friends I gained through football, or that I have skills that make me more suitable for this scholarship. During my high school career I have maintained an excellent GPA, participated in several extracurricular activities, done volunteer work, and worked a part-time job. I feel like all of this qualifies me for this scholarship but it doesn’t set me apart from my teammates because we were all a great group of guys that were part of great programs. I didn’t just play it; I dedicated a majority of my high school career to the Huntington North High School Football program. I was there for every offseason workout, day in and day out. During the season I was with the program 6 out of the 7 days a week. I received JV and Varsity letters playing football. Even dedicating that much time to the program I maintained excellent grades with challenging classes while working toward my Honors and Tech Honors Diploma. I maintained a 10.8 GPA on an 11.0 point scale. I was also recognized as a scholar athlete all 4 years. I was awarded an academic letter during my senior year for maintaining over a 9.0 GPA all 4 years. During my sophomore year, I started a part-time job at Arby’s where I work about 20 hours a week. Not only did I participate in the football program at Huntington North but I also participated in Campus Life, The First Church of the Nazarene Youth Group, and off season intra mural sports such as basketball and baseball. I also volunteered in my community by serving at the soup kitchen, filling backpacks for children in need through the “Blessings in a Backpack”, Operation Backyard, Volunteer basketball coach for Kim League Basketball program at the YMCA, and most recently a Middle School Campus Life leader of 7th grade boys at Crestview Middle
