Third Estate, it was used for most of the population that was neither clerical nor noble, and for their representatives at the Estates General. In 1789, the Third Estate made itself a National Assembly and launched the French Revolution.

Miguel Hidalgo and Jose Morelos, are two Roman Catholic priests who were leading a rebellion in Mexico calling for land reform so the poor could receive land. It was crushed by the wealthy landowners because they feared the social radicalism that the movement meant. The Hidalgo-Morelos rebellion was the beginning of later rebellions in Mexico.
