The Hero Twins, Hunahpu and Xbalanque, had heard what happened to the Four Hundred Boys and decided to exact revenge upon Zipacna for their deaths. This was also part of the Hero Twins goal to bring down the arrogant gods of the Maya. The twins devised an elaborate plan in which to trick and trap Zipacna. They fabricated an elaborate faux crab and then concealed it deep within a canyon. Afterwards they went to the beach and sought out Zipacna, who was hunting for his usual favorite food, crabs. Zipacna was famished and had been unsuccessful in finding any crabs all day. The Hero Twins approached him and told him a very large crab that they'd seen in a canyon. They guided Zipacna to the canyon where they'd seen the alleged crab. With him being so hungry, he wasn't able to see through their ruse and followed them to the canyon. Once again, the Hero Twins relied on their wits to devise a plan. Cabrakan, like his father and brother, was very proud and arrogant. The Twins decided to use this very arrogance against him. They sought him out and then boasted about a great mountain they'd seen which continued to grow and grow. Cabrakan was very proud of his ability to bring down mountains. When he heard the Hero Twin speak of this great mountain, as they predicted, he demanded that they show him this mountain. The Hero Twins, Hunahpu and Xbalanque were happy to oblige and escorted Cabrakan on a journey to the mountain (which did not even exist). Being the skillful hunters that they were, the Twins shot down several birds along the way. Following through with their plan, they stopped and roasted the birds over a fire and played on Cabrakan's hunger.
