Badminton is not a contact sport and it is also an indoor game, therefore possibility of injuries is not very high, however, due to the quick movements such as jumping and stretching for the shuttle the game can have an effect on your body. Most health and safety rules are unwritten which means they are not official, nonetheless it is still followed. Given below are the most important health and safety regulations: 1. Stretching – any sports performer no matter what level would always warm up well before a match. In badminton, warming up is rather important because this game involves a lot of quick movements that can strain your muscles. Clothing – each sport has certain clothing requirements to perform effectively, for example, in athletics spikes are required to run properly. In Badminton, players are advised to wear to proper shoes which have a good grip. This game involves a lot of quick movements that usually strain your knees and ankles therefore a shoe with good shock absorption would be beneficial and help reduce the strain. If the player cannot find shoes with good padding he/she may want to purchase silicone soles and insert them to the shoe. Furthermore, the shoes have to be tied tightly so that your ankle has support and this will also help reduce the possibility of toppling your ankle. For example, if you shoe is loose it may come off during play which would be a disadvantage to you. If the player is scared that the shuttle might knock his/her eye and cause injury they may wear goggles, however, there are other methods to protect your eyes. 5. Technique – proper technique is important for all sports, not only Badminton. And just like in any other sport bad form can result in injuries occurring. Badminton techniques refer to the way the shots are played and how the racket is held. By holding the racket the proper way and playing the shots the way it is supposed to would drastically reduce the possibilities of wrist and should injuries.
