Between sacrifice and success, sacrifice contributes more to heroism. A hero is someone who would be willing to sacrifice almost anything for something greater. Heros also show great courage, leadership, and sometimes other qualities. Usually, a hero will sacrifice themselves to protect other people, displaying that they are caring. Being a hero can be defined or seen in several ways, but sacrifice is still important to heroism.

Sacrifice is very important to making a hero. Someone who is willing to sacrifice something shows heroism because they are giving up something. For example, people who go to war, are sacrificing themselves in order to protect their nation, are considered heros. They know they might not survive, but they still go and they try and give effort. “He didn’t lose himself in horror. When people sacrifice themselves, this shows heroism because they are looking out for the other people and being selfless. Standing up for what the person believes is right and having good morals is also important to being a hero. This would include the hero going as far as sacrificing themselves to protect others, because they believe that it is right to help and protect others. Heroes also show great leadership and courage. Lines 630-647 from “Beowulf” shows Beowulf’s leadership, courage, and bravery about the battle with the dragon.
