Diversity: Harassment

Diversity is something not only many individuals face on a day to day basis, but also something that we face as a nation together. Now diversity can be dispersed into many different categories, but for the sack of this research paper. We will focus majority towards the workplace spectrum and how exactly that correlates within harassment. But to be able to fully understand how harassment can be involved within the topic, first we must discover exactly what is harassment.

Harassment can be simply identified, as behavior that is intentionally found to threaten or disturb an individual. This can include many forms of harassment such as sexual, racial, age, and et cetera. Which all can be found in and out of the workforce. Harassment is something that is not new, but something that we have had and seen for a very long time. Harassment is very frowned upon around the world and can result to serious punishment. Therefore many laws have come together and have swarmed around the issue, for the soul purpose of protecting, for example, Title VII of Civil Rights Act of 1964, The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). Anyone can be harassed no matter the age or ethnicity and anyone can be the harasser. However laws do differ depending on the state that you live in. …show more content…

Within the workforce, harassment can be dealt from a non employer, co-worker, supervisor, and et cetera. It can contain verbal harassment, non-verbal harassment, and even physical harassment.
