History of The Green Bay Packers
What I Already Knew/ What I Wanted to Know When I started this project I already knew a little bit of history about the Green Bay Packers. I already knew that they had won the first and second ever Super Bowls. Since then they have been to three more Super Bowls and won two of them which puts them in third place tied with the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. They had won nine championships before the AFL NFL merger of 1970. With their 4 Super Bowls and 9 championships they have the most championship titles in world history. Through my research I am hoping to learn a little more about the history of the Green Bay Packers. I will start by getting a better understanding of the creation of the Green

I began my research by developing some background on my topic on packers.com. That site gave me information such as when the Packers were founded and who founded them. It also talked about who sponsored their creation, where their name came from, and how the team developed over time. Then, I compared the information from that site with some other sources such as, bio.com, and time.com. I confirmed that all of the information was credible. Next, I began my search on historic coaches of the Packers. Through packers.com, I found a lot of information on the coaches that deserve to be remembered and make the team the legendary one it is today. Then, I started to search for statistics of the coaches. I looked for things such as the teams record for the seasons they coached and if they had won any championship titles. Finally, I shifted my attention to the legendary players throughout the history of the team. I found a lot of statistics of the players such as when they played, what position they played, and how many titles were won while they were on the team using websites such as jsonline.com, and bleacherreport.com. Finally I will focus on the players to try and determine who the best players …show more content…
They also have one of the most loyal fan bases, which can be represented by the fact that season tickets have been sold out since 1960. They are considered one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history. The history of the Green Bay packers is legendary, and have been and always will be one of the greatest franchises in the history of the league. Some might even say the greatest. The Green Bay Packers were founded on August 11, 1919 in a small office of the old Green Bay Gazette building in downtown Green Bay, Wisconsin. The team was founded by Curly Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun. The creation of the team was funded by the Indian Packing Company, thus the name "Packers." They were forced to start a field at Hagemeister Park until they got the money to build a proper field. And they stayed there until September 29, 1957 when their new stadium was dedicated and named City Stadium. It was later renamed in 1965 to Lambeau Field. After two seasons their financial outlook was greatly improving. With their money they put up a fence surrounding the fields so they could now charge admission for the game. With the income from admissions they had erected two large portions of the bleachers by the middle of October, so fans wouldn't have to watch the action while standing on the sidelines
Does the team they played for have the most Superbowl rings? Troy Polamalu and James Harrison are the two best players to ever play in the NFL because their team they changed NFL defenses, and are some of the strongest NFL players and are some of the best at their positions. The way they play the game of football is awesome they just stand out in the games. They also are really strong James Harrison is the overall strongest OLB/DE to play the game. Troy Polamalu is one of the most, if not the most versatile Strong Safety/Free Safety to play the game. There were two coaches who coached them Bill Cowher, Mike Tomlin. The Steelers got their name from Cleveland republic steel 1962. The stadium is located in Pittsburgh, PA.
In the past few years, the controversy over Native American and other racial sport names or mascots have become an uproar. The main sport teams that are being targeted due to controversial mascots are programs having names dealing with Native Americans. Many teams are well known programs such as the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, and the Washington Redskins. The Redskins are receiving the most heat from racial groups. According to Erik Brady of USA Today “The volatility surrounding such names has amped up in the year since Daniel Snyder, owner of Washington's NFL club, told USA TODAY Sports that he'd never change his team's name: ‘NEVER — you can use caps.’” (3). However, professional teams are not the only teams receiving negative remarks,
Prior to the current stadium, the Cowboys’ home was one of the most recognizable professional sports stadiums of its time. According to Stadiums of Pro Football, “Texas Stadium, seated nearly 66,000 fans and was known for its partial roof where weather conditions could play a factor in each game,” (Page 1). Stated in the official Irving, Texas fact sheet pertaining to Texas Stadium “the stadium was constructed at a cost of 35 million and lasted from its opening date in 1971 until it was closed in December of 2008,” (Page 2). The new stadium built to replace Texas Stadium in 2009 named Cowboys Stadium, is luxurious to say the least, not to mention it is practically brand new. Altough 4 years later reported by Star Telegram, “Cowboys Stadium would now be known as AT&T Stadium under a multimillion-dollar naming-rights deal between the iconic football team and the Dallas-based ...
It is the reason fans fill the stadiums or turn them into ghost towns. If you were to look up success in the NFL one would probably see a picture of the Patriots. Six trips to the Super Bowl, fourteen winning records, and making the playoffs fourteen out of fifteen times within a fifteen year period are all hallmarks of their success. Comparing that to the Cowboys’ one playoff win, zero Super Bowl appearances, and five winning records within that same time span really shows which team has enjoyed more

The winning that the Steelers have done in the past forty-three seasons has been remarkable. Information gathered from "Pittsburgh Steelers Team Encyclopedia” has shown that the Steelers have had a winning season
Over all their years in playing football their record is 739-544, and they have forty-two ties. They also lead the NFL with that record. They have not always been called the Chicago Bears, though. When the league first stared out they were called the Decatur Staley’s. They were called the Staley’s because the A.E. Staley food starch company funded the start of the team. In 1921 the team moved to Chicago and became the Chicago Staley’s. They were called the Bears because of the Cubs baseball team. Former player George Halas became the coach and was given 5000 dollars to keep the Staley’s name. In 1922, he changed the name to the Bears to reflect the Cubs basebal...
Every person ever associated with football knows how the game is played. They know every rule, play, stat, and anything else that can be recorded. There was a certain one of these people, though, that stood out from the rest. This was a man by the name of Vince Lombardi. Most people generally know who Vince Lombardi was. They know him as the former, and most famous, coach of the Green Bay Packers back in the late fifties and early sixties. They also recognize him as the man the trophy awarded to the Super Bowl winner, the Lombardi Trophy, is named after. This is all common knowledge in the football world. Do any of these people know who Vince really was? Do they know what he did to the game of football? Do they know that he changed the game, forever? Not many can actually say they know what Vince Lombardi did to the game of football that left a lasting impression. There can be arguments made of other coaches that have made great lasting impressions in football. Some names including: Bud Grant, Mike Ditka, and Don Shula. If you look more in depth at this though, they haven’t left that big of a lasting impression of the game. None of them really changed the way the game of football is played. None of them did like Vince Lombardi. He was the first to truly take risks to change the game of football. Through hard work, dedication, and an understanding of the game, Vince Lombardi was truly the most influential person in footballs history.
Do you like professional football? Have you ever wondered where teams originate from? Or what teams have been around the longest? The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional team that has an extensive history. There are also many unique details about them that other NFL teams do not have. There creator was a great man who started the team from practically nothing, their name and logo represent great tradition, and lastly, they have won many championships.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are arguably one of the greatest organizations in any professional sport. In the last 50 years they have won five Super Bowls. Within the organization they have always shown class and have been a gold standard for many teams because of their reputation. From an outsider’s perspective it is hard to imagine that there is anything that the Steelers should fix or focus on more. The purpose of this report is to provide the Pittsburgh Steelers with a S.W.O.T. analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats). This report was done by Mike Carapellotti, Brandon Yakulis, Matt Nehr, and Andy Fedigan. Its goal is to point out key ideas and strategies that will ensure the Steelers organization continued success for the
“The Green Bay Packers are a non-profit corporation held by the citizens of Green Bay to run it’s football team”,who I think are the best, arguably are the most storied franchise in the National Football League, were organized on Aug,11, 1919, in the dingy second-floor editorial rooms of the old Green Bay Press-Gazette building, located on Cherry Street in downtown Green Bay. Never imagining what might become of the semipro football team being formed that day, nobody documented who was there or how many were on hand. There had been no announcement of the meeting beforehand, and the Press-Gazette provided no details about it the day after.Whether a full complement of players attended or if it was simply a
Since 2005 the Philadelphia Eagles have saved 3 million dollars because of the environmental work they have done and 100 percent of their energy comes from reusable sources. ("Smarter Business: Greening the Games") To start off, most NFL teams have charities and donate to charities, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. Also, they help out with the environment. Teams have a special way to pick players around the league and in the draft for their team. To add to that, NFL teams and especially the Eagles keep a close eye on the player's health and how to keep them healthy. I want to start an NFL team and have the franchise based on the Philadelphia Eagles. There are many cities in the U.S. that are suitable for teams and there are a lot of things
History of the Football Team the Rams The history of the Rams has not always been in St. Louis as most of you. already know. In 1937 a group of business executives decided they wanted a home town football team, so they built a stadium that held 3000 people in the middle of Cleveland, Ohio. They held try outs for players who wanted to play.
