My Greek culture project/individual paper by Angelina Hudson The topic that my group has chosen was religion. My group decided to do it about this particular topic because we thought it was interesting.Also we were Intrested in knowing what there religion was about and what they did for there religion. We were also Intrested in the Gods and goddess because Greek mythology also went into the topic how they worshiped the gods in there religion. Also they based everything off of religion and if they didn't do something to honor a god something bad would happen. That's why my group decided to pick the religion topic for our project. How our group divided the work for our project was that we gave jobs to each person such as one would research information on the topic,one would write all down, and one would write the information on the power point that we did for our topic. To also honor the gods they would leave offerings at the altar to honor them. They would even do animal offerings to them. This was all just to honor them and what they believe in. Some other facts I learned about this topic is that in the afterlife they believe that if they didn't preform a funeral for the person they would become a ghost and haunt the upper world also they believed when people would die they would go to the underworld were the spirits lived after they died.     During the Archaic Age of Ancient Greece, circa 776-500 B.C.E., the population growth in Ancient Greece called a need for more food supplies, and this demand was met by trade, establishing colonies, and by warfare to seize more land (Making Europe 71). According to Kidner, the Archaic Age “brought a revival of culture, the economy, and political significance to Greece” (71). As Greece began to overpopulate, methods for dealing with the overpopulation had to be found, once of these methods was to import food, which caused an expansion of Greek commerce and production of trade goods (Making Europe 71). Another solution to the overpopulation of Greece was to find new land somewhere else, and during the colonization that lasted from 750-550 B.C.E., Greeks colonized coastal cities because they wanted access to trade routes across the sea (Making Europe 71).
