At first glance the Disney Channel show, Gravity Falls, looks to be a simple story about twins, Dipper and Mabel Pines staying at their great uncle’s tourist trap in the town of Gravity Falls that is filled with many anomalies and unusual creatures. But taking a deeper look into the show, it is quickly apparent that the series is far more mysterious and detail-orientated than previously thought. Even though the story is presented through animation, Gravity Falls is certainly among one of the most in-depth mystery television shows because of the creator's extensive understanding of the plot and characters and even more the numerous secret and codes to decipher. In the show, twins Dipper and Mabel Pines go to spend the summer with their great …show more content…
Sometimes codes will be hidden throughout the scenes in the background. Another method is at the end of each episode a code is shown after the credits. The third way is through codes shown on the pages of Dipper’s journal that is shown at the end of each episode. These codes give clues that can help viewers to solve the mysteries of Gravity Falls along with the characters or just simply for a nice hidden joke. There are three types of ways that hints are most commonly decoded. One of the methods that is used commonly is reverse speech. Backwards messages are often scattered through Gravity Falls. An example of this is found in the episode in which the dream demon Bill Cipher is summoned by the Pines’ rival lil’ Gideon. Lil’ Gideon recites an unintelligible chant in order to summon the demon. When the chant is played in reverse Gideon can be heard simply saying, “backwards message” over and over again. Even though this particular code doesn’t give any insight to the future plot, it does add some humor. Another way messages are often coded is through a cipher code. In a cipher code a number stands for a particular letter. The one used in this show is pretty simple; the number one stands for “A,” two stands for “B,” three for “C” and so on. This is the type of code that was shown after the credits most often in season two. This code is likely how the main villain Bill Cipher got his name. Bill is probably the one behind the …show more content…
Bill Cipher appears as a golden brick triangle with one eye in an obvious reference to conspiracy theories about the illuminati. When Bill’s plans are foiled in this episode he warns the twins he is always watching them. This statement is supported by the appearance of many things resembling the character hidden in the environment. In nearly every scene there are things resembling Bill Cipher, especially Bill’s characteristic eye with a vertical slit, can be found. If that wasn’t enough, the codes that are dispersed through the show support this. In one episode, a message is seen written on a pipe underneath the floorboards that reads, “ELOO LV ZDWFKLQJ.” When deciphered it reads “Bill is watching.” Many of the secrets in Gravity Falls seem to be pointing to Bill Cipher who is definitely going to be the main conflict throughout the shows

Gone with the Wind is a classic fictional love story that depicts life in the old south before, during and after the Civil war. The book was originally written in 1936 by Margret Mitchell, the movie adaptation was released in 1939, directed by Victor Fleming, and staring Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh. Ms. Mitchell grew up listening to Civil war stories from confederate veterans. It was reported that they told her everything; everything that is, except that they had lost the war, she found that out when she was 10 years old. Though the book was written 71 years after the Civil War ended, Ms. Mitchell did her research and appears to have drawn inspiration from those childhood stories that she was told. This is apparent in the detailed description of the clothing, houses, and everyday discussions and interactions of the characters throughout the book. Though not all historically correct most of what is in the book is accurate. During the time the movie was released, “damn” was considered to be vulgar and controversial and they used the term “darkies” to describe the slaves.
"Mrs. Robinson, you are trying to seduce me," says Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman). The Graduate, directed by Mike Nichols in 1967 is an influential satire/comedy film about a recent East Coast college graduated who finds himself alienated and aimless in the changing, social and sexual general public of the 1960s, and questioning the values of society. The theme of the film is of an innocent and confused youth who is exploited, mis-directed, seduced (literally and figuratively) and betrayed by a corrupt, self-indulgent, and discredited older generation (that finds stability in “plastics”) that I found to be quite clear and understanding, while also capturing the real spirit of the times and allows America's youth to perceive onscreen an image of themselves which they can both identify with and emulate. The Graduate is a significant film even today due to its use of abstract camera angles, telephoto lenses, excellent cinematography, and great acting. Few visual effects were used, however, matting and numerous point of view shots were used. These characteristics and the fabulous use of mis-en-scene, great writing and the era of the film all made The Graduate what it is today, magnificent.
The film "Garden State" is an eccentric drama; in addition, a romance comedy, with a slew of complex, innate cast of characters, each deeply entrenched in profound emotional and psychological scars, ascending from the regrets of their past. The film is a reflection, on rediscovering yourself after years of goalless ambiguity. Writer/Director Zach Braff, stars as the films’ chief character, Andrew Largeman. In James Berardinelli’s movie review, he said: “Garden State is one of those movies that fails to stay with the viewer for an extended period of time. It 's a forgettable film featuring a throw-away story with unmemorable characters and unremarkable performances.” I must disagree; although "Garden State" can be a tad somber, moody and too subtle for many viewers. Yet, the film is fantastically intriguing, by arousing viewers thoughts, and stimulating ones emotions, and that 's exactly what draws viewers in. Since the storyline requires viewers to dig deeper into the subtle undertones and symbolisms

The movie Doubt is set in a private Catholic School in 1960s. Sister Aloysius is the principal of the school, and Father Flynn is the clergyman in the church. While the movie deals with some moral dilemmas such as doubt versus certainty, rigidity versus openness and so on, the central theme of the story pivots on accusation on Father Flynn of child molestation. The story has a hanging ending where Father Flynn is proven neither guilty nor proven innocent. Based on the contents of the movie and my own analysis, I believe that certainty plays a bigger role in accusations and I believe that Father Flynn had been falsely blamed and I am also against the rigidity of the society.
The movie Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is based in the 1970s. It depicts the highly male dominated broadcast team and shows the shake up when a woman is hired as a reporter and has aspirations of becoming an anchor the television station. The particular scene shows Ron Burgundy is flustered because Veronica Coringstone is impeding on his masculinity. Burgundy exemplifies hegemonic masculinity by explaining he is a man and a professional, when Coringstone says he his acting like a baby he takes offense and explains he is a man and he his ultimately better than a women because indeed he is a man. Burgundy states, “'I’m a man who discovered the wheel, and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn. That's what kind of man I am. You're just a woman with a small brain. With a brain a 1/3 the size of us...It's science (Robertson, McKay, 2004). The clip also depicts Burgundy’s desire for Coringstone to be the typical submissive female he is used to. The articles will identify the gender stereotypes and access if they are true or false based on the research.
While in episode 17 season 1 you hear Stan singing an interesting song, “stocking meat for the apocalypse… we’re all gonna die,” (Alex Hirsch). Some see the song as just a joke, which it is at the time, Stan brings up this quote later episode 17 season 1, “If it makes you feel any better the apocalypse is coming soon, bury your gold, you’ve been buying gold right?” (Alex Hirsch). We see here that just a joke could escalate very quickly into something possibly apocalyptic. Stan implies that there is an apocalypse coming soon but from where, none other than Bill Cipher. Stan knows of Bill’s plans and will use his power from the portal that he will gain to stop Bill’s plans. On another note, some may think that Stan is an antagonist in the story and that he is trying to cause an apocalypse. On the contrary, Bill also mentions this quote from episode 4 season 2, “This isn’t the last you’ll hear of me! Big things are coming! You can’t stop me!” (Alex Hirsch). Bill states that he is going to come back and seek revenge against everyone, possibly through an apocalypse that Stan mentions. Stan builds the portal to potentially stop bill in his tracks of destroying the world. Which isn’t a bad thing, it’s actually a very good

In the police department they use a type of technique ir scheme to speak to each other and understand each other. A communication scheme in a police deprtment can include encoding, transmission, medium, reception, decoding and feedback. In a police department encoding is used to message what is trying to said with a disguise for other individuals not know. Communicating properly give the agency an edge in many ways for people outside the agency do not know what is going on behind the closed doors and it’s a more effective way to attack the ones who break the
Codes have been around for centuries ranging from wax, invisible ink, Morse code, the Enigma used by the Germans during World War II and now steganographic. Steganography is the latest form to insidiously hide information over the Internet without a trace of a file being altered. You are able to hide messages within images, voice or music. Steganography is an ancient method of hiding messages. Today messages are hidden in images and music. Steganography can be traced back to the ancient Greek who would write messages on tablets and cover them in wax. This made the tablets look blank and unsuspicious (Kolata, F4). Citizens of ancient civilizations would tattoo messages on their shaved heads. They would then let their hair grown in and travel across enemy lines to deliver the message (Seper, G1). During World War II the Allies placed a ban on flower deliveries with dates, crossword puzzles and even report cards (Kolata, F4) for fear of a message being hidden with in. Steganographers first alter their data by using encryption and then place the image into a pre-select image. Steganographers look for a piece of code that would be the least significant and look the least altered to the human eye (Kolata, F4), being as inconspicuousness and random as possible. This makes the messages undetectable unless you knew that there is a message hidden and you were able to crack the code.
