Hello. Hola. Bonjour. Hallo. Nǐ hǎo. Everyone knows the Rosetta Stone commercial that promotes learning a new foreign language for a person, yet people are unable to learn. As a result, people should be able to learn a different language with the aid of a professor. At Grand Canyon University, students are unable to learn new foreign language, as they are limited to Spanish. Students should have the choice to learn different language from around the world in college as an elective. Seems, as students that are bilingual, are able to gain more in the future on jobs, as they will know how to communicate better. Foreign language classes are a benefit for students, as they will know more than one language. They will be able to communicate with more of the world and not be limited to one region of the globe. Narciss and Koerndle (2008) stated that for scholars, “Foreign language learning is crucial to students’ academic and personal education. In many domains, a person’s professional and individual success is related more or less to her ability to communicate at least in one if not several foreign languages” (p. 281). Hence, they will have more education, as they will be fluent in not just one language that is common like English. By pupils, taking various language course in college will be able to obtain the basic of other peoples' native language to be able to communicate. Merritt (2013) explained “Students who study foreign languages tend to score better on standardized tests than their monolingual peers, particularly in the categories of math, reading, and vocabulary”(para. 3). For this, show that there are positives for student to take foreign language class, as in the future it will benefit them more. Scholars will be able to be more connected with others in the world by the knowledge they achieve in college. Furthermore, GCU undergraduate states that she would benefit from GCU providing language class and that “America is very diverse, so having people learn a foreign language would benefit the students at their future job, and other countries all over the world teach other languages when the students are younger so they grow up bilingual.” (K. Kerns, personal communication, April 10, 2015). She explains how other nations in the world teach other language at a young age and continue to enhance their education unlike in American.
