The 13 year old hippie, Capricorn Anderson, from the book Schooled by Gordon Korman is going to the middle school for the first time. This is because his grandmother and caregiver, Rain, broke her hip falling out of a plum tree and has to stay in the hospital until she’s recovered from it. Now Cap is thrown into the modern world after living at Garland Farms for his whole life forcing him to change from being a hippie to a hero in modern society. Other students thought that Cap was a hippie, freakazoid, weirdo. For example, Zach Powers said, “Standing beside him was the strangest-looking kid I’d ever seen”. Cap’s first sight of the middle school was when Zach showed him around and Cap was confused on what a locker was and what you put in it. He wants to go back because he misses everyone and everything about it. On pg. 182 he writes a note to Rain about going back for the “Halloween Dance” but Rain doesn’t know that he’s going back for the “Halloween Dance”. He says in the note “Dear Rain, I’m sorry, but this is just too important. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be home soon, Cap” . Cap would be a cool friend because he’s a hero and he is loveable, great, and smart. I would talk to him often and usually he knows what he’s talking about instead of just blabbering gossip. I would trust Cap because he doesn’t spread gossip and he also keeps secrets, meanwhile Zach doesn’t. A quote describing how this is true is he says “You’re my friend” to Rain. I think that quote is really nice and so loving because he acts like Rain is his parent or someone else in his life. Caps’ a hero because he saved Mr. Rodrigo’s life. Therefore he is an amazing
