Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Robin Williams—the most iconic trio in movie history. This movie lives up to that potential and it will still continue to, it has been since 1997. Good Will Hunting is a movie that forces tears and laughter in the same scene. The relationship between the characters are unique and refreshing. Ever since I watched this movie, it has quickly taken over to be one of my favorites. Good Will Hunting is a classic, it is more than a movie about a wicked smart boy, it has more complexity than a generic side love interest; overall, it is so much more. I want to discuss the unique relationship between Will Hunting, played my Matt Damon and Chuckie Sullivan, played my Ben Affleck. Furthermore, I want to explain the three key concepts in Warren and Fasset (2015) and how pathos, ethos, and logos are used during a specific scene. Instead, he went to work construction with Chuckie, his unrelated brother. Will is a troubled orphan and is the product of his environment. He does janitorial work at MIT or works on construction sites to almost blend in with his surroundings. However, that is until his mentor discovered his genius-level intelligence for solving mathematical problems. I will analyze how Will is confused with his future and does not want to follow in his mentor’s footsteps and “sit in a room and do long division for the next fifty years.” He would rather be in the comfortable realm of his home in ‘Southie’ (South Boston) instead of using his abilities to become something more. Chuckie is Will’s best friend and in this scene Chuckie questions Will’s life and if he is really doing the best he can for himself.
