Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe was rated as one of the top 100 literatures of all time. It was labeled as the first African novels to gain worldwide recognition: decades later, it remains one of the greatest novels during the period of the colonial era. Pope Frances once quoted, “Each of us has a vision of good and of evil. We have to encourage people to move towards what they think is good... Everyone has his own idea of good and evil and must choose to follow the good and fight evil as he conceives them. That would be enough to make the world a better place.” The story gave details about a local Nigerian villager’s clash with European Christian settlement in 1890’s Africa. This historical clash greatly contributed to Africa’s modern day struggles.

Things Fall Apart gives historical details of Okonkwo life, an honorable and greatly respected Igbo man from Umuofia village Nigeria. Okonkwo's circle are sharecroppers, He suggests that village life has not changed substantially in generations. New changes arrived with the English settlers. The Bible was introduces instead of Guns, their weapons of choice. Villagers are now being converted to Christianity; the unity of the tribe has now been separated by these new holy beliefs. Christianity changed the Umofia tribe that is no longer acting like one union. Unwilling to adapt many were stubborn including Okonkwo who secured a seat as the protagonist in a Modern Greek tragedy.

The Ibo and Christians in Things Fall Apart are so bothered about protecting their own religions, that they didn't take part in sensing the similarities with Christianity’s. They both share similarities in many ways, but instead of a peaceful transition it was dreadful. The rapid transformation of the religion created a high degree of cultural displacement.
