With the many ethical and social issues faced during the Everest simulation, came with many tough decisions that had to be made. As mentioned above, a specific example was the decision I as the leader was faced with in decision set 2. To take the utilitarian approach, which was to keep going and the photographer was to catch up with the group – resulting in the highest number of points for the team. Or the deontological approach which was to wait for the photographer but risk even more members of the group being recued. However, crying from a newborn baby is completely natural and it is the only indicator in determining if the baby needs food or is uncomfortable. Some parents do use cold medicine to soothe a crying baby to sleep, but creating a drug just to soothe a crying baby can later be used too often and lead to long-term effects. I personally do not take medication (I do not even go for my flu shot) simply because the business of prescription at times can be unethical and unnecessary. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) grand challenge is hosted a first of its kind all robotics race through the Mojave Desert from Barstow, California to Las Vegas, Nevada. Two hours before the race the contestants are given the route at which their robots will have to take in order to win the race. Once the race starts human intervention will result in disqualification. The prize for finishing in the fastest time is one million dollars. Amongst the shelves that are packed with the latest computer software, sits a genre of games, that does not get the recognition that it deserves. Simulation games. These games do not give the player level after level of mind-boggling graphics, blood and gore, or even the feeling of accomplishment. Their one purpose is to give the control to the player, that they would normally not get in their everyday lives. By definition a simulation game is a game where the player must take on a role that is different than his or her everyday life.
... you can do it, but it won’t work out to well. Call of Duty is a game that anyone can play, but if you can’t play it, then it easy to learn. When I first started, I learned in two days of constantly playing it. Getting used to a new game and trying to put together the story from the previous game, can it hard but it’s all about listening and plugging in the keywords of the campaign. Call of Duty isn’t a hard game, but it’s more fun when you play online with friends and chatting with them while you play or play on a multiscreen against each other at your house. Playing with friends online, especially if you have a clan/group, is competitive as it can get. Not only you are playing online together, but you will always be on the same team no matter what. So you can win all game or lose some or lose all, it all makes you group better and get ranked higher than you think.
In The Donkey by Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm, we learn that despite our beliefs it is indeed a difficult task to find acceptance as a donkey in a community of normal looking people. The Donkey gives us a strong indication of how stubborn people at this time were when looking at change. In this story three main things we see are the main idea of how the community deals with accepting the donkey based on appearance, the moral of the story which would be to not judge a book by its cover, and lastly how we can easily make a connection or comparison between this story and the countless number of situations we encounter in our daily lives.
