Genghis Khan: Universal Ruler
Genghis Khan, the Mongol ruler who united the many clans of Mongolia and created the biggest land empire the world has ever seen was a vicious conqueror who fought his way to the top. The Mongolian and Chinese people see him as an inspirational hero who led his people to greatness, while other nations that his rule came in contact with see him as a savage who murdered many and killed relentlessly. Whether you see him in a positive light or a negative one, in order to really understand Genghis Khan you must first know his story and where he came from.

Though he was next in line to lead, the elders didn’t want to be led by a mere nine year old kid. So they took most of his family’s belongings and brought them to a near exile from the tribe. Temujin, with the help of his brothers and mother foraged and hunted the lands, hardly surviving year after year. One day when Temujin was fishing his older brother Bekhter stole the biggest fish he caught and ate it for himself. Temujin later tracked down his brother and killed him. The other members of the tribe saw this and it confirmed his position as head of the tribe. Later when Temujin was sixteen he married Borte when cemented the alliance between his own tribe and the Konkirat tribe. Though not soon after his marriage, Borte was kidnapped by the rival Merkit tribe and given to the chief as a wife. Temujin broke into the encampment of the Merkit tribe and got Borte back. Soon Borte gave birth to her first son, Jochi. Though her time with the other chieftain made it hard to determine whether it was Temujin’s son or not, he still accepted him as his
