Social anxiety (social phobia) is a disorder and phobia that makes people afraid of interaction, makes them feel self-conscious and like they are being judged which leads to avoidance. There are many people in the world that are affected by either specific social anxiety or or generalized social anxiety. People with this disorder can also feel inadequence, inferiority, embarrassment, and depression. There are millions of people all over the world that are experiencing social anxiety. Some common examples that people have trouble with while dealing with social phobia are public speaking, performing on stage, using a public bathroom, eating and/or drinking in front of others, writing in front of others, and more. One type of social anxiety is generalized social anxiety. Generalized social anxiety is when people get anxious, uncomfortable and nervous in any type of social interaction. This type of social anxiety is more common than specific social anxiety. People with this disorder can often worry for months and face anxiety related symptoms. Family history is a risk factor because if any of your biological siblings or parents have it then you can get it too. Getting social anxiety is more common through blood/biologically. When children get teased, bullied, rejected, or humiliated then they can be prone to this disorder. Other personal reasons that you can go through to get this disorder are family conflicts, and any trauma or abuse.When children grow up to be shy, and have no courage then they can grow up to be diagnosed with social phobia. Another risk factor is being exposed to social and/or work demands.
