The equality in the roles of genders have come a long way, from women not having a say in anything they did, to being able to do just about anything men can do; although, lots of stereotypes and sexism still hang around today. There are still those people who believe that women were just made to cook, clean and take care of the kids and it’s not even just men who believe in this. Some women were raised to do all the things society believes a woman should do and they continue to pass these things on.

At one point women had to disguise themselves as men and register under a guys name to join the military. Today, lots of women are in the military, and some women run the households as single parents, same with men. Gender roles aren’t around as much as the stereotypes and sexism are today. Your parents also have a huge impact on the way things are ran around a house. These “roles” are things society came up with that states how one gender is to think, act and speak. This was around the time where the roles for women were taking a big change because of the war. Women had been stepping up to take the roles of the men while they were away but returning home from war they stepped back down and went back to cooking, cleaning, and raising the children. My grandma was raised under different rules than my sisters and I, obviously. Passing down what you are taught, and how you are raised is something that everyone does, even if it 's just little things. She believed that while women could do just as much as men, a part of their job was cooking and cleaning. And not because men shouldn 't have to do these things but because yes, in the workforce men are just more capable of doing some things.
While gender roles are taking a big turn in today 's society, a big part of the “gender role” topic is effected on how you are raised.
