Fraternities and sororities are an essential part of the university experience. They provide the student with a place to call home or even help form lifelong relationships. Students find a sense of belonging in these organizations and everyone is there to support others. Sadly these organizations ruin lives with a lot of deaths occurring during unsanctioned events. If individual chapters include a minimum G.P.A to become a full member, then less deaths happen since everyone involved is focusing on their studies. Universities usually do an outstanding job regulating fraternities and most of them contribute to the institution and the surrounding area in a positive manner. I believe that universities should continue to allow fraternities and sororities on their campuses because they promote a unique culture within the school campus and young teenagers …show more content…

Morals are developed in these organizations and with improved behavior students stay motivated to graduate college, surrounded by a strong support system.

It’s true that fraternities hold many secret parties and require their pledges to go through unimaginable amounts of abuse, this negative behavior only occurs amongst unenforced organizations and bad people. I believe chapters which been accused or involved in hazing should leave the university campus but ones who contribute to the school’s climate should stay. Maybe instead of humiliating the freshmen pledges, fraternities need to let their members integrate into the school community and know each member personally since everyone is close to one another. It would be impossible to eliminate hazing all together because it has continually happened for the entire existence of fraternities. If the amount of alcohol was checked before entering a party, then less deaths would occur because hard liquor isn’t easy to
