There are four types of parenting styles: authoritative (are accepting and involved in their child’s life, but also have achievable goals and expectations for the child), authoritarian (are not accepting or very involved in their child’s life, and set unrealistic goals and expectations for the child), permissive (are overly accepting and indulgent or their child, and set minimal or no goals for the child), and uninvolved (are withdrawn from the child’s life, and make minimal or no goals for the child). I was raised by my grandparents and mother with my aunt often helping early on.I believe I experienced different parent method from different people at different times in my life. For the early part of my childhood, I believe the parenting method of my grandparents and mother were permissive (which I believe was influenced by them feeling bad for me because my father had died)- they would let me do almost anything I wanted and I lacked any responsibilities (I was given almost any toy I wanted, they would play with me whenever I wanted, I was allowed unlimited access to sweets and soft drinks, I had no chores, and was never expected to clean up after myself). …show more content…

Beginning around middle school, my aunt began to not spend as much time with me so I did not really receive much parenting from her, but also my grandparents health began to deteriorate and my severely mentally ill mother began to stop taking her medication. Starting at this time the parenting styles of my grandparents and mother would be considered more of the uninvolved type.I belive parenting style was heavily influenced by their medical conditions, as I do not believe they were able to really
