School weeks are typically five days long right? Well in some states such as Arizona, California, Colorado, and 18 others have converted to a four day school week. There are more than 120 school districts that host some form of a four day school week. The average school day in the United states is six and a half hours long. Using this method of only four days a week will cause schools to either have more days added to the end of the school year or longer school days. This system would relieve stress off of students, be cheaper and easier to organize for the school, and give more time for kids to study, do homework or even spend time with their parents. Shortening the school week to four days would not only relieve stress on students, but on teachers also. It would cut down on the amount of stress and give them more time in class to complete/continue on their homework. Giving kids more time for their homework in class would lead to a better turn-in-rate of homework. It also allows for students to get more involved athletics and school activities, leading to an improved community and a jubilant society. The average percentage of students who spent 1-2 hours on homework(k-12) was 19.3% repeated. This coming from students being overwhelmed and stressed with all of the homework being assigned on the same day. Another topic that students will complain about is how much time they have to sit in a desk during the week. Not only would this method cut down on the amount of time in a desk during the week, but it would make for happier, and more enthusiastic students leading to the teachers to have a more delightful day and influence kids in other hours causing the teachers to want less from the district, which cuts down on …show more content…

In the year of 2017, $72.8 billion was spent on improving the education being taught to students. With that amount of money, you could buy sixteen Yacht History Supremes which cost 4.5 billion each! Using the method of only having four days a week of school would help cut down on the amount of spending on education. For starters, the district wouldn’t spend as much on transportation services, lunches for students, and heating and a/c to keep the school suitable for learning conditions. Although students have to pay for their own school lunches, the school has to pay for the food that the students eat for their lunches. On top of all this spending, the district has to pay teachers and substitutes when the teachers can’t come to school. A shortened school week would cut down on this extra spending of teachers and substitutes and allow for more spending in other areas that are truly
