In Frederica P. Perera’s article ‘Multiple Threats to Child Health from Fossil Fuel Combustion: Impacts of Air Pollution and Climate Change’ she uses factual data to discuss the effects air pollution brings to adolescents. The importance of this rising issue has allowed her to bring validity to the argument. Despite this, her knowledge and ability to document her evidence, has caused her to stray away from her own thoughts which was not beneficial in connecting with her readers. Perrera discusses how toxic air pollution and climate change is hazardous to everybody, but focuses on the effects it has on adolescents being even more detrimental. To bring awareness to this factual statement, she includes evidence on health and developmental air toxic which may result in adverse birth outcomes. When discussing Respiratory Effects she describes the developmental issue it brings upon childrens lungs. She then transitions in how Malnutrition and Infectious diseases causes disabilities, specifically developing countries. Physical trauma and mental health impacts being another concern for Perrera, here she ties pollution into the cause for climate change which has evidence linked to the likely …show more content…

Some of these are; preterm births, low birth weight, cognitive and behavioral disorders, asthma, other respiratory illnesses, malnutrition, mental illnesses, and those were just some of the many she pinpoints. Specifically targeting poor communities and the environmental issues in their area Perrera narrows down the overall problem. Claiming air pollution and climate change disproportionately affect children in low income populations. Despite her argument on this claim Perrera strays from that point, and diverts the topic back towards health hazards and cause for pollution. Giving more background on that topic may have allowed the readers to have a better understanding on the relevance of that
