There is a lot of confusion when talking about football and flag football. I realized they are both a type of football played, but there is so many differences and similarities the two sports share. The main difference you can notice just by watching is the equipment used or maybe the places you can play the sport in. Another thing you will notice are the rules the two sports have for each other. Overall these sports are just something fun for families to play or watch to connect with one another.

The field dimension is 80 yards by 40 yards with 10 yards end zones, yard markings every 20 yards. The ball is placed on the 14 yard line after every touchdown. There can only be 7 on the field or at least a minimum of 5. Just like American football you have to reach a certain point in four downs. Your equipment needs to keep you safe in this sport. The football helmet is the most important one because it protects your brain and keeps you from having a head injury or from becoming paralyzed. You also need a mouth guard to protect your teeth because who wants to walk around with no teeth in their mouth. Next, you have thigh, hip, and knee pads, these protect your lower body, and they prevent you from damaging your lower body. Then we have the shoulder pads, these pads protect your chest and shoulders. Last we have football cleats, these help you keep grip to the grass or turf so you won’t twist an ankle or etc.
Flag football very simple and really not a lot of equipment needed in order to play. You just need a flag belt. You also need cleats or tennis shoes so you will be able to have a grip on the grass, turf, or court. You also need athletic type clothes on so you can be loose and ready to move around. That’s all you need for equipment in flag football.
As you can see there are many differences and similarities within two sports. For example, one has contact and the other does not have any contact. Also, the equipment is a lot stricter than the other. Last, both sports are just for families to connect and to have fun with each
