Introduction
There has been significant concern in media about public health impact and decrease in people’s confidence regarding food safety. Recently, the number of cases of contaminated food has increased and product recalls have grown. For instance, babies in China were poisoned by the Sanlu´s contaminated milk four years ago (1), a contaminated Peanut from main distributor in United States that was used in hundreds of different products and industries. This has increased the focus on food safety by consumers, the industry, lawmakers and regulatory agencies.
The global sourcing and outsourcing of products has increased with open markets and the fast improvement in high quality products has brought high levels of food safety. The global sourcing providers of food are growing fast. On the …show more content…

McDonald 's supply chain is extensive and complex. It 's very efficient, which is why McDonald 's are able to consistently offer their customers safe and quality food at an affordable price. But there 's more to the equation. McDonald 's supply chain contributes positively to the safety, quality, and availability of their final products. They also want their product ingredients to be produced in ways that can contribute positively to the development of sustainable agricultural and food manufacturing practices. McDonald 's have a large number of direct suppliers- companies that make or deliver final products for their restaurants- even McDonald 's have larger number of indirect suppliers- companies and farms that grow or process the ingredients that are eventually delivered to their direct suppliers.
