Food shortages all around the world has become a growing problem when people live in poverty. Food insecurity for a household is not having access, by all members, at all times, to enough food for an active and healthy life; therefore the term is used to reflect on crisis conditions associated with today’s challenge of feeding our rapid growing population. Food insecurity for a household is a problem when anyone at any given time does not have easy access to nutritious food. Because of global food shortages, 15% of US households suffer from food insecurity. While the majority of the world is in a food secure environment, there is still a small percentage of people that don’t know when their next meal is going to be. Poverty is a big indicator for areas that are food insecure. In countries that are not educated, as well as countries with bad economies have an abundant amount of people living in food insecure homes. In 2013, 45.3 million people (914.5 percent) were in poverty. In poor countries, people have a really hard time finding or getting jobs. Although the term food insecurity was first coined in the 1900’s, people have had trouble accessing food since the beginning of time. There was never a time when everyone had a constant supply of food. In low developed countries hunger is a big obstacle because of their economic unsuccessfulness. If people do not have a way of making money, then they are going to have multiple difficulties accessing food. Constant shortages and hunger in various countries in the 1980’s led to peoples disadvantage to participate in economic development. There are organizations that help people out who are in need. The first food stamp project was constructed in 1939. Organizations like these are existent to help people get a kick start of their life to help them
