Causes: In my opinion, I believe that a healthy and nutritious food access for everyone is not a major concern in my community because not all people think that food insecurity is the priority need. Food insecurity means not being able to afford or have access to healthy, balanced meals, which can include going without food at times. Many believe that there are more severe problems than food, such as economic crises, terrorism,...etc. Yet, not much seemed to have taken the time to realize how much of an issue of food insecurity is. Alongside air, water, and shelter, food is a basic necessity for life. Food plays a role in our health, economy, and culture and is a critical part of a sustainable community, yet not all of us have the privilege of accessing to it. Furthermore, I believe that not much people think about food access since there are many services provided by the government, such as food stamps that allow low-income citizens to feed their families. However, not all members in our community have the access to food stamps, like the people without stable houses, known as the homeless people and they are a part of our community as well. Many homeless people eligible for food stamps do not receive them. …show more content…

With the poor choice of choosing unhealthy and processed products, it may lead to many health problems, such as chronic disease, diabetes,...etc. People are still lack of the knowledge about nutrition and its importance. Not to mention, food access is not simply a health issue but also a community development and equity issue.
