Recommended: How different cultures have shaped american food

America, known for being the greatest of the lands on earth, the place of opportunity, and a place of freedom. Though, during this time, it has become evident that the United States is a nation build on immigration. According to Forbes, in 2015, almost 47 million individuals living in the U.S. were not natural born citizens (McCarthy). With this fact in mind, it shows that there is a clear mix of individuals within the American society. Considering this integration of society, it isn't hard to assume that cultures will be carried over the borders as well. This is what makes America’s society so exceptionally unique. No matter an individual's background, there is a niche for everybody, regardless of the food selections people enjoy, the style of one’s hair, or even …show more content…

But, America has thrived off of making everything that holds existence in its country to be considered “American”. This pattern can be seen in the food industry as well, but individuals must stop and ponder, where are these foods actually coming from? Considering an even larger scale, what generalizations do individuals make about food from the Middle East? During the past two decades, immigration from the Middle East has influenced American culture in the food industries, making it more diverse. So one must ask, how educated are individuals about this topic? During the years, one might let the common belief overcome their willingness to investigate. Stereotypically, individuals think that Middle Eastern food is composed of primarily meat. In fact, this is false. Brittany Arret, from Georgetown University deems that food from the Middle East is “extremely diverse” along with its people (Arret).What people don’t know is that Middle Eastern individuals are known for their immense taste for fruit. In today’s society, this metaphor may be an understatement.
