Food Against Fast Food

In the past few decades, fast food restaurants have grown exponentially and are spreading across the globe. Americans have always had a delicacy for food that can be made within minutes at an affordable price. Fast-food restaurants are everywhere from near a school to even inside of one. Almost every commercial on TV demonstrates the products of many fast food restaurants and is also advertised on the interne. Fast food companies target young adults and are pushing more consistently towards children. The marketing tactics of fast-food restaurants towards children should be regulated or banned because promising toys in a meal encourages kids to eat the unhealthy foods of the company.
Children have always demonstrated a fondness for toys and always want more varieties of them. McAlister and Cornwell state, “marketing practices that target children are center stage in many debates” (195). Fast-food restaurants use the marketing of toys to grab the attention of children and then attract their parent’s attention to take them to buy a meal with a toy. Santa Clara County in California has “voted to ban the practice of pairing toys with high-calorie meals targeted to children, while allowing toys to be paired with meals that meet certain nutritional guidelines” (McAlister and Cornwell 195). If the majority of the United States voted to pass a law like Santa Clara County then the obesity rate in children would decrease dramatically. Today, fast-food commercials are getting out of hand because they portray the food product to be healthy or display a positive message with a toy being a bonus. ...y has become a predominant problem in today’s society and especially in young children. Precautions need to be taken to ensure the health of the children and future generations. Restrictions or bans should be made to limit the advertisement towards children because they are being influenced to eat food that is not healthy and overtime can deteriorate someone’s health. Parents should also teach their kids to eat healthy or to not eat fast-food excessively. Foods are going to become bigger and cheaper in the future and precautions should be taken immediately. Many countries have also realized the affects that children have because of fast-food restaurants and some countries have commenced to ban or restrict advertising to children. There are many health risks that correlates to obesity and it can all be prevented if you eat healthy or not excessively eating fast-food.
