A Summary of “On the Need of Some Grammar”
1 In the book Modern American Usage: A Guide by Wilson Follett presents the article “On the Need of Some Grammar” that states that there is a permanent need for grammar.
2 Follett states that there is a need for traditional grammar, more specifically syntactical grammar. Syntactical grammar allows an individual to logically analyze sentences.
3 In more recent time, the opposite view point in some grammar guides indicate that instead of syntax and traditional grammar there should be a need for morphology. Morphology is the scientific view of analyzing grammar; the formation of words.
4 The harmful activity is that individuals seek guidance and are deprived of it due to science which is harmful. Also, that speech is place among things that are artificial and unimportant, this may also be harmful.

Due to this anything is accepted and there is no argument regarding the standard and what is correct and good grammar. 8 Good grammar is not only helpful with syntax, it is also helpful with the rules that come close to those already in the tradition. Simple frequency can improve many popular errors.
9 Challengers of grammar are rather right to mention that it is an artificial examination made after the fact, and not a statement of natural laws; they are quite wrong to think this convict it from being artificial. Those who argue that grammar is a craft of the arts rather than as an essential part of linguistic naturalists.
