Communication is key in every work center. Without the proper flow of communication, everyday tasks and the overall mission will fail. The upward, downward, and lateral flow of communication is constantly needed from day to day work taskings to your home life. Knowing how to apply the flow of communication will not only increase your capabilities as a leader but those you lead.
The flow of communication to me is the most important aspect of every work center. Communication between supervisors, peers, and subordinates can be misconstrued. It is our job as leaders to properly channel the flow of information between the ranks. The more we as an Air Force communicate up and down the chain the more we as a whole will succeed.
The flow communication is broken down into the three parts, upward, downward and lateral communication. As supervisors, we need to use the flow of communication to channel information from our Airmen to our peers to our leaders. I will demonstrate the use of upward communication by being the voice for my Airmen. I will take the information or questions given to me and present them to my supervisors and peers. This will affect my supervisors by providing them feedback about what is happening on the operational level and my peers by allowing them to see I how I am performing as a leader.
