Changing a Flat Tire
One day you will get a car or already have one, but on the most important day of your life, you’re driving on the road and your car begins to pull to one side and the sound of a flapping sound or a flat tire. Most people have roadside assistance service that will fix the flat tire and you call them but they won’t be able to come out for a few hours. So, this is a good time to learn how to do it yourself and know how to do it if you don’t want wait around for roadside assistance.

First, you will need to find a safe spot to pull over. If you’re on the freeway, the safest thing to do would be to take the next exit even if you have to drive with a flat tire. If you’re not on the freeway then just pull as far to the right shoulder as possible. Don’t park …show more content…

Then, you remove the hubcap, when doing this don’t remove the lug nuts at this point just loosen them by turning the wrench counter-clockwise. But if the lug nuts are really tight, try placing the wrench on the nut and standing on the wrench arm using all your weight or use a rock to loosen the lug nuts. As well as this, you would use the jack to lift the vehicle off the ground. Before doing so you may need to look in your owner’s manual for a specific location to put the jack. Once the jack is in the correct spot, make sure it is secure and jack up the car until the tire is about 6 inches off the ground. Then, after jacking the car up remove the lug nuts and remove the tire off the car. When removing the lug nuts place them in a pile that won’t scatter. Pull the tire straight toward yourself to remove it from the wheel base. After removing the tire from the wheel base, put the spare on the car and line up the lug nut posts with the holes in the spare, then push the spare all the way onto the wheel base until it can’t go any farther. Further to lining up the lug nut posts, put on the lug nuts but don’t put them on tightly. Make sure they’re on enough for the spare to stay
