The five key elements of civilization are government, religion, jobs, arts and writing. Government is a key element because without government the world would go into anarchy and there would be no order. Laws keep us in shape and people would end up killing if there were no laws. Religion is also a key element because religion gives us hope and it makes us be good people. Without religion people wouldn't have a reason to be good people. Jobs are key because without jobs, people wouldn't be occupied and they wouldn't be able to trade there goods in the market. Jobs also is how you traded for food, clothes and other necessities. The arts are important because they are a way for people to express themselves. We wouldn't have pottery and infrastructure
There are three main themes presented in each essay included in Civilization. They are as follows:
Early civilization remains permits us to observe how life was lived in earlier times. Until the Neolithic Era humans were fairly nomadic. When they became knowledgeable of farming they began to realize that they would not have to be nomadic anymore thus forming civilizations. These early civilizations were typically polytheistic, which means that they believed in many gods. During these civilizations they also learned to tame animals and their technologies grew more and more advanced. Almost all early civilizations have failed but they all left a lasting mark that will continue forever. The Nile River Valley Civilization and the Mesopotamia Civilization are both amazing but they both have their differences in their political and social aspects.
The first civilization to rise was the Mesopotamia, located in present day Iraq, between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, and Egypt, along the Nile River. It’s split in two ecological zones. In the south Babylonia (irrigation is vital) and north Assyria (agriculture is possible with rainfall and wells). By 4000 B.C.E., people had settled in large numbers in the river-watered lowlands of Mesopotamia and Egypt. Archaeologists have shown that large-scale irrigation appeared only long after urban civilization had already developed, meaning major waterworks were a consequence of urbanism (population). Before civilizations were formed, humans spent most of their time moving from place to place, hunting for food, and learning how to build shelter for themselves from wild animals. Slowly, people started to settle down in one place. Civilizations formed and they were some of the most influential civilizations on the world today. Our democracy is an organized group of the top developers and people, who help run our little island. Our government greatly helps our citizens. For example, to control the outrages crimes in the city that put our citizens in danger are our firefighters and police force. Continuing, the government creates laws that keep our citizens from risk and panic. This organized group keeps our successful civilization in order and fully functional.
For thousands of years, people all over the world have developed, progressed, and eventually formed civilizations. A civilization is a community characterized by elements such as a system of writing, a development of social classes, and cities. Early civilizations such as ancient Greece, classical Rome, Mesopotamia, and classical China have made many contributions to society that still affect people in the modern world. The inventions, progress, and contributions of the people of these ancient civilizations and others have shaped the world that we all live in today.
A Civilization is generally defined as an advanced state of human society containing highly developed forms of government, culture, industry and common social norms. Of course, not all scholars agree with this definition. In fact, there is much debate over what constitute a civilization and what does not.
