Introduction In 1992, Rio Earth Summit, the World Tourism Organization and the World Travel and Tourism Council published Agenda 21 which mentioned the importance of sustainable development and defined the environmental and social impacts associated with hotel operation that should be minimized (Meade and Pringle, 2001). Nowadays, hospitality operations concern more about environmental sustainability because hotel sustainability might be a unique selling point for attracting environmentally sensitive customers and add extra value of influencing the customers’ choice of vacation decisions (Sloan, Legrand and Chen, 2013). These five hotels, Sea Splash Resort, Negril Cabins Resort, Swept Away Beach Resort & Spa, Couples Ocho Rios, and Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa, they had been selected because all of them implemented operational EMS, and there was sufficient data to evaluate cost saving and changes in environmental performance (Meade and Pringle, 2001). It needs the competencies of the building, internal design, staff training, communication with guests in order to enforce the policies and practice properly (Heung and Pun, 2013).
