According to lecture 3, Andrew Carnegie had few regulations, which made him a wealthy and dominant force in the U.S. Carnegie’s steel mill was located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Carnegie’s steel worker made to work in a dangerous and a poor work environment. The working conditions at the steel mill were so dangerous that it was likely they would lose their life. Carnegie forces his worker to work a twelve-hour workday. The steel workers wanted to work in a better work environment; they organized a steel worker’s union.
In Judith Halberstam’s piece “Female Masculinity,” she offers the audience a few potential definitions of the term ‘masculinity’ and how the term applies to “feminine masculinity.” She states that “although we seem to have a difficult time defining masculinity, as a society, we have little trouble recognizing it” (935). Halberstam suggests that female masculinity is often blatantly ignored in culture and studies due to the indifferent feeling often associated with the topic. Halberstam uses her essay to explain a variety of aspects associated with female femininity like tomboys, queer methodologies, and the bathroom problem. Halberstam’s description of the term ‘Tomboys’ is reminiscent of the character Emily Fields from the Pretty Little Liars book series by Sara Shepard. Progressing through middle school with a group of ‘girly’ friends, Emily is easily labeled with the term ‘tomboy’ due to her sporty exterior. Her overly conservative Christian family and classmates see no ‘threat’ or meaning behind Emily’s tomboy appearance because they believe it is just a stage in her life. As soon as Emily enter tenth grade and starts hanging out with a homosexual female, her family and classmates grow concerned about Emily’s masculine looks and behaviors. In the book titled Prettty Little Liars, one of the liars, Emily’s evident masculine ways raises concern to her thesis-go back and fix it .

Tracing the development of African Americans through television history helps us to understand the different ways a group of people are represented and how that representation changes as the years go by.

According to Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, the definition of impact is to have a strong effect on someone or something. In normal-person speech, that means to influence a person or thing. Certain men that have had a positive impact on Louisiana’s history are the influential Charles Elson “Buddy” Roemer III and Captain Henry Miller Shreve, but the former had a greater impact because of his actions have saved the state from financially hard times.
The reason why women are scarcely mentioned throughout the history textbooks are because women are conformed in their status of the private sphere. Women are related to “nature” considering their roles in society such as child bearers and housewives. Culture is considered as a sustaining force that transcends nature to create and control a new interest. Because of this “nature” status put on women, they are considered inferior to men. However, this is not the case for everyone and not all society understands culture and nature like westerners do. Some consider what women and men do rather than the symbolic attributes that are placed on them.

By using their model to determine where my family and I are on the ladder based on education, occupation, and income I would say my family will be in the working class because my mom and dad never finished high school nor went to college. My parent immigrated to the U.S legally from the Secret War, and coming to a country that they do not know how to speak the language or adapt to the cultural it was really hard on them. For my mom, she wanted to continue her education, but my dad and his parent forced my mom to work instead of getting an education. Because of not having a good education she did not get to have a good job that will help support the family. But once my dad and mom started working we were living a really good life with no hardship making into the lower middle class, but once they divorced, my mom was the only one taking care of us eight children which was really hard for her, dropping us to the underclass (lower class). My mom was unemployed for a while until she finally found another job to support us....
In todays time we have different forms of corrections. We have the rehabilitation for of corrections. There is also the form of punishing offenders. To me there should be and equal balance between the two forms of corrections. Too much punishment and you get sued now an days. Too little punishment you get repeat offenders. Currently supporting, but oversimplified, models tell us that Tat bind to the hairpin loop created by the Tar sequence of the HIV LTR, which then recruits P-TEFb. Through the use of CDK9, p-TEFb then phosphorylates Ser2 of the CTD, and allow for elongation. Nevertheless, it has been found that another protein called TCERG1 is involved in Ser 2 phosphorylation. This protein, originally called CA150 (2), has been characterized in the past, but there hasn’t been an appropriate model available that describes how TCERG1 works in vivo with regard to HIV-1 transcriptional elongation. In our current paper we have evaluated the role of TCERG1 and hypothesis that TCERG1 is a cofactor for HIV transcriptional elongation. We looked at the effects of TCERG1 knockdown by shRNA in PBL and Jerkat cells transfected with the HIV-1 LTR with the Luciferase reporter fused on the env gene, and found that both basal and Tat-activated transcription were diminished. This suggested TCERG1 served as a positive regulator of transcription. To test TCERG1’s effect on elongation we measured the amount of transcript at the distal regions of the LTR in HEK293T cells with a deletion of the Reverse transcriptase of HIV-1 transiently transfected plasmid. We found that TCERG1 knock down decreased transcript production by 30-40%. Monsters were always likely to been in folklores and myths among many countries. In the oxford dictionary, a term monster is “An imaginary creature that is typically large, ugly, and frightening.” From this definition, we can see that a monster is a creature which frightens people. This is typically true to children. Especially in folklores, monsters are used to discipline children by teaching them moralities. In this paper, I would like to compare and contrast the similarities and difference of a Japanese monster and the Western monster. From this comparison, we will have a better understanding of each other’s culture, and how it developed as a part of its culture.
People have had this fascination with technology long before there were any actual texts to write down our history. While the technology that humans had a few thousand years ago were not as advanced as what we have today, they were still toying with the idea of creating machines that would have the capability to make the similar, rational decisions that we do.
