Recommended: Short reflection about community service

How has your faith life impacted you, and how have you used your faith to help others?
Going into high school there is a lot of transitioning that occurs. A major part of this transitioning for me included my faith life. The summer after my freshman year I attended Catholic Heart Workcamp for my third time. A change occurred in me that week, this change was so extreme that my faith was forever transformed. I felt that I was seeing life from a different point of view and was thinking of my future in a different manner than before. Through Catholic heart I was not only able to serve others but was able to find myself.

I one day hope to share this same wonderful experiences with others, if I am so lucky as to be selected a Catholic Heart Workcamp summer staff member. Not only could I use my faith and service to help one family for one week, I could impact hundreds of young faith filled Catholics and help them realize how good God is and all that we can do to serve him. These new skills taught me that behind every person there's a story, all you need is someone to tell it. Journalism quickly became my favorite class. After writing we moved onto design, which had a whole new skill set of its own. Once I started designing I fell into a rhythm, I loved it! Something about creating an entire page with ideas that were all your own. In writing you could be creative or clever, educate others or entertain them but in designing I found you could do all these things at once, with a look that appealed to the eye. Once I realized this I started to notice things I hadn't before.
