In Guy Montag’s futuristic society, possessing books is illegal. The story Fahrenheit 451 was written to give readers the idea of “what if technology replaced books entirely?”. Bradbury writes this out of his fear that technology will replace books in the future. There is plenty evidence why he has no reason to fret… In Bradbury's interpretation of the future different type of technologies have replaced books. You can install TVs in your house to mimic having a “family” or guests over, it creates a virtual reality that you can actually live in. Also Guy’s wife, Mildred, uses seashells a lot which are little earphones that she puts in her ears, that constantly plays music, entertainment, news and talk that her society channels in. The technology basically takes away the feeling of another persons company, which by showing through Guys actions, Bradbury doesn't particularly like. Bradbury had the fear that modern technology would replace books, which I believe he had every right to. I mean he was an author after all thats his profession and if people stopped reading books he would have no job. Besides if technology allowed us to not need books we still wouldn't just get rid of them entirely. A lot of people just enjoy the whole feel of real books. …show more content…
