School governors role is to work with the school to ensure it delivers a good quality of education, along with the Head Teacher who is responsible for the management and together they set out the school aims and policies.
Key roles of governors: • To ensure the clear vision, ethos and strategic direction • To oversee the financial performance of the school ensuring the money is spent effectively and how it is spent • Setting standards of pupilâ€TMs behaviour and discipline • Ensuring the school buildings are maintained • Appointing and dismissing staff, hearing grievances and appeals • Being a critical friend to the Head teacher, who is accountable for the school educational performance and its pupils along with the performance …show more content…

During the school day many support staff will connect with pupils and they can model positive behaviour and send positive message to pupils.

Emergency services can visit a school to provide talks to pupils which can be incorporated within the curriculum. At our school we have a local community officer based on the premises and is they should a safeguard issue arise, as well as delivering information talks relating to their role and responsibilities.

The ethos of a school should be evident as you enter the school, as it is part of the environment and daily practice of staff and pupils who attend. All staff who work at our school are responsible in modelling how we should behaviour both with other colleagues and pupils, as well as visitors to the school. This should reflect in the way pupilâ€TMs behaviour and that they know what is expected of them regarding standards of behaviour. Respecting each other is an important value of our school and our mission is †̃Respect others as you want to be respectedâ€TM which was chosen both by pupils and staff. Being respectful and demonstrating good values will ensure that we welcome and promote a family ethos when visiting or attending school. Our values are taken from each letter of our school name:
